Surface Studio 2 benchmark pops up on Geekbench

We've heard rumblings for some time that a second-generation Surface Studio is in the works, beingness developed under the code name "Capitola." And now, the device may have made its first public appearance (of sorts) via a Geekbench benchmark.

The Geekbench listing, spotted initially on Reddit (via Windows Latest), doesn't give us a ton of information well-nigh the device, but it does provide a wait at the processor and RAM on board. According to the benchmark, the model tested is running on an Intel Core i7-7820HQ processor with 32GB of RAM. In terms of scores, the Surface Studio 2 managed to hit a single-core score of 4,680 while scoring 15,915 on the multi-core examination.

The choice of processor is curious, as one would expect Microsoft to make the movement to one of Intel'due south eighth Gen fries. Regardless, a step up to the i7-7820HQ would provide a pocket-size heave in clock speed over the original Surface Studio's Core i7-6820HQ option. Even so, it's worth keeping in mind that all benchmarks should be taken with a requisite grain of salt, peculiarly when they announced before a device is even announced.

In whatsoever example, nosotros may get a look at what Microsoft is cooking upwardly as early on as next week. The company is holding a mysterious Surface result on October 2, where nosotros're largely expecting to see modest updates to the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro. Nosotros're less certain that a second-generation Surface Studio is in the cards, but it remains a possibility.
